Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How does it work?
It's easy. Choose a design and tell us what you want. If you don't see what you have in mind on our web site, call us or e-mail us. We'll design something just for you.

What about color?
Tektronix
For short-run printing, we use Tektronix high end laser technology. What it means to you is that the color will jump off the page rather than be absorbed into the paper but have the resilience that comes with large commercial press runs.

Our digital printing system lets you get the effect of full color without the cost of traditional film costs. You get the impact of brilliant or muted spot colors no matter how many colors are in your logo or artwork. And, you aren't limited to CMYK (process color which is also called four-color), either. Our Tektronix printers can combine the color systems in a single pass.

And black is always an option. We can convert a design to the colors of your choice or print a black and white that you'll swear was varnished to make it shine. Or, by choosing a different paperstock, it can have a deep, soft richness to it.

Does printing technology make a difference?
Our choice of Tektronix color laser technology for in-house printing is designed to protect your corporate image as well as ours. Images and text are printed digitally at up to 1200 dpi (dots per inch). The advantages of using Tektronix laser printers to output your custom materials include:
1. Environmental resistance - The ink won't melt in the heat of summer like solid ink can.
2. Human "coaster" resistance - The ink won't run if the piece gets wet like inkjet does. (Try leaving a sweating glass or sloppy cup of coffee on something printed off an inkjet and you'll know what we mean.)
3. Color versatility - Tektronix laser technology allows us to combine your favorite spot colors with CMYK (4-color process) at no additional cost to you. (In traditional full color printing, you would have to pay a premium for the additional press runs and film required. We can print the colors you desire in a single pass, giving you vivid color at lower cost.)
4. Paper versatility - The Tektronix 560 allows us to give you double-sided printing with no show-through and no ghosting as well as a greater variety of paperstocks and paper weights.

What kind of paper do you use?
The choice of paperstock varies in color and weight according to the finished effect desired. For printing standardized items, our "house" sheet guidelines are:
Note Cards: coated, smooth 80# cover stock
Greeting Cards and Business Cards: coated, smooth 80#-100# cover stock
Product Slicks: glossy coated 80# text stock
Letterhead: 24# text stock
Translucent items: 36#, UX/Ultra II

Standard paper color is white, although specialty colors and alternative paperstocks are available upon request.
